A gas cylinder is a sealed pressure vessel. When a compatible rated replacement is available, we replace the complete unit—we never drill, puncture, open or modify it.

Before a mobile visit in Greater Montreal, we separate likely cylinder failure from an activation or structural problem.

Drops gradually under load
This often points to a worn gas cylinder. We still confirm the chair, mechanism, height range and rated replacement before scheduling.

Will not raise or lower
The cylinder is not the only possibility. The lever, activation cable and control mechanism may change the repair path.

Wobbles, leans or has a damaged base
That can indicate a connection, base or structure issue rather than pressure loss. Photos of the underside and base help us avoid the wrong part.
When replacement makes sense
The frame and base must be sound, a compatible complete rated cylinder must be traceable, and removal must be feasible without unsafe modification. Cracked structures, unavailable specifications or poor repair economics can make chair replacement the better answer.
